Weekly Design Dispatch: Still We Rise Auction, Bernal Rock Battle and Target Debuts Designer Dress Collection

Welcome to the weekly Design Dispatch. This week we're talking Target's new designer dress collection featuring Cushnie, how Bernal Rock became the battleground over Black Lives Matter in the neighborhood, and Still We Rise is back with an auction against police brutality.
DESIGN NEWS:
A number of artists have released limited runs of prints with proceeds going to various organizations. You know you need to get some art up on your walls, and we love that it serves as a reminder of this movement in our daily lives, so we've rounded up a few of our favorites for you.
SF Based Michele Bell Studio has created a finely drawn ink drawing of the march over the Golden Gate Bridge with Proceeds going to the Equal Justice initiative. It comes in 8x10 for $30, and 16x20 for $60.
Cup of Creative has a collection of inspiring prints starting at just $8 for a 5x7 with 100% of proceeds going to Color of Change.
Painter Emily Jeffords created the dreamy abstract "Just Start Here" with proceeds going to Black Women in Visual Art, the canvas prints start at $35.
Target just debuted their Designer Dress Collection, including Cushnie, a Black-owned luxury brand by Carly Cushnie favored by everyone from Beyonce to Michelle Obama. Prices start at $40, and the collection is size-inclusive.
Still We Rise just announced an upcoming Instagram auction in response to police brutality to run from June 20-29th. If you're a brand interested in donating an item, they're still accepting submissions so head over to fill out the form.

SF Design Week, Virtual Edition starts this Monday and will be featuring virtual talks, tours, and workshops. Most events require an All-Access Pass, $39, so head over to Eventbrite to register.
Broke Ass Stewart has a pretty comprehensive list of protests in the Bay Area for those looking to get involved. If you choose to attend, remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing. The city is also offering free Covid testing to all protesters.
A rock in Bernal Heights has become the unlikely battlefield over community support of Black Lives Matter. Resident artist Kseniya Makarova painted the rock with Black Lives Matter and a tribute to George Floyd only to see it painted over a grand total of five times, including one unfortunate (though not isolated) incident with DPW. Not to be deterred, the rock has been painted once again, and for now- stands as a resilient symbol of support over the city.

Queer Eye season five is back on Netflix, and we've never been happier to welcome the Fab Five back into our living room. The show is still the classic makeover quintuple threat, tackling everything from their subject's wardrobe and home to their career and heart. It's lighthearted fun with its moments of self-reflection, but at the end of the day, what we're clinging to the most is this: if given the opportunity, education and support, people can evolve and change.
