Welcome to the weekly Design Dispatch. This week we're talking one giant bake sale, pretty botanical prints to adorn your walls and the Netflix hack we discovered this week.

DESIGN NEWS:

Blogger Julia Berolzheimer of Gal Meets glam has announced that she is shuttering her Gal Meets Glam Collection apparel line on August 8th, as explained in this heartfelt letter on her blog. The good news is that if you want to snag one of her signature feminine pieces before then, many of the items are deeply discounted (all are final sale.)

Rifle Paper Co has announced a line of wallpaper, and we're head over heels for the beautiful botanical collection. From subtle traditional motifs like the Laurel to bold statements like the Garden Party Mural, there's something for every aesthetic (we're partial to Peacock.)

For once, it seems as though you can actually have your cake and eat it too. Bakers Against Racismthe virtual worldwide bakesale, is raising funds to combat Racism. The event runs through Saturday, so there are just a couple of days left to pick up a sweet treat for the cause. Head over to Eater to find out more.

LOCAL INTEREST:

Bay Area brand Millie | Lottie introduced the "Wrapping Up Hunger" collection this week with 20% of the proceeds going towards organizations providing meals and fighting food insecurity. The collection includes oversized reusable totes and reusable wraps, all sustainably produced in San Francisco.

Following in the footsteps of Washington DC and other cities around the country, volunteers gathered to paint their own "Black Lives Matter" street mural, organized by local artists Melonie and Melorra Green and Tyra Fennell in the Fillmore.

Listen:

This week instead of my usual review, I wanted to share a little hack I recently discovered and have been using for both myself and the kids. Listening to a movies or series with the screen off. Seriously, that's it. My daughter wanted to put on a Frozen "play" this week, and I found that I could start a movie from Disney+ or Netflix on my iPad or phone, turn off the screen, then hit the play button from locked mode. It helps keep the kids entertained while cutting down on screentime, and I like that I can put on a series like Netflix "Explained" in the background while I'm working and not be distracted by the screen.

That concludes our weekly Design Dispatch. If there is anything you would like to add to the list, feel free to leave a comment below, and if you have a tip for a future column, feel free to drop us a line.
