One Room Challenge: Week Three, Shopping + Making Slow Progress
It's the third week of the One Room Challenge, and things are moving… very slowly. In my week one post, I talked a little about what we already have going on around the house and personally, and the past week was one where I had to remind myself that it's ok to move at the pace that my body and circumstances will allow. Both of my kids were sick over the weekend, followed by my husband this week, my migraines took me out for two full days, and we've been getting sidetracked by our kitchen (not the ORC), which is still in boxes while we wait for the painters to finish up. Despite all that- here's where we're at today.
We swapped out the lighting, and between that and the paint, it's already feeling so much better. Like, here's my after, see you all later, better. Kidding, sort of. At this rate, who knows. I bought a heat gun to try out on the door we plan to strip back to the bare wood. I then watched a few youtube videos on it (as one does) developed a healthy fear of the tool, and now I'm waiting on the welding gloves I ordered off Amazon before I get started. I've worked with Citri-strip on past projects, so I'm looking forward to comparing the two.
I also ordered the Roman Clay from Portola Paints, and it should be arriving this week! I used their Roman Clay in a past One Room Challenge and loved it, so I'm excited to get it up on the walls. Treating the walls is the next step before installing our peg rail, hanging art, and hanging the new shelf unit, so things should start to move a lot more quickly once it's up!
