Looking for a weekend activity? Smithsonian Magazines Museum Day is coming up, and you can score free tickets to any of the over one thousand participating museums across the nation. The event is on Saturday, September 22nd, and the ticket is good for two people, check the individual museum's policies to see if children are free or need their own tickets.

Unlike similar events, where lines for admission go for city blocks, you download your tickets in advance online. The tickets are limited to admission to one event for two adults, the ticket holder plus a guest and are limited to one set per email address.

In the Bay Area the event includes the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito (our top pick for kids), The Museum of Craft and Design, The Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, and The USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum, amongst others.
