The One Room Challenge Bathroom Reveal

Oh hey, you didn’t think I forgot, did you? Yeah, it’s been a couple of weeks since my last update- the better part of which was spent plastering layers of Roman Clay on the walls, but when it all comes together, it comes together. At least I can say that with confidence now; the day before I photographed the space this weekend, I was near tears and feeling stressed. Usually, when I finish a project, I can toggle between my design boards and the finished space and feel the satisfaction of executing my vision just so- but this time, there were a few necessary pivots. The “not wood” door had to be painted instead of stripped, and I axed plans for a new vanity when my migraine flared last month, and I lost precious time. It was the right call but a frustrating one to have to make. All of this was fine- until I laid out the bath runner, and- it didn’t fit. Cue the frustrated meltdown. I took a walk, came back, and realized that if I removed the trim, I could make it work and put the rest of the finishing touches on the space.

For all the little pivots, I’m thrilled with how the room looks today; it feels like a mini-retreat but still is functional for the whole family. The new light fixtures cast pretty shadows on the subtly textured walls, and with a few pops of (faux) greenery, it’s almost enough to make you forget that this is actually a tiny, windowless space. Apothecary style brass shelves add some vintage charm next to the clawfoot tub and make the products on them feel like a fancy display, and the triptych of botanical-inspired prints from Juniper Print shop make the narrow walls around the clawfoot tub feel like the centerpiece of the room- instead of a claustrophobic corner. It’s proof that you can make the most of any space with little effort, careful planning, and (in this case) a lot of time spent layering on Roman Clay.
