Book Review: Be Curious by Joy Cho of Oh Joy!
Known for her signature colorful, quirky style, blogger Joy Cho’s first foray into children’s books is as effervescent as the author herself. As a mom to two girls, she knows firsthand how to keep them engaged, and the book doesn’t disappoint. With an array of flaps to keep little hands busy, cute characters to draw them in, and colorful illustrations, the book encourages kids to “be curious” and explore.
Young readers follow a curious little cat as a colorful exploration takes them through the pages of the book. They’re invited to use their senses as they lift flaps and peer through doors to discover little surprises along the way. The illustrations by artist Angie Stalker are an explosion of color and pattern with a hand-drawn appeal, and the friendly faces of the characters are captivating. While my 3-year-old was most interested in following along with the story and yelling out “be curious!” at the end, my one-year-old was fascinated with the animals and eager to lift all the flaps.
The book is available to be pre-ordered now on Amazon for $9.99 and will officially be released in two weeks on April 7th.
